3 HEADED DOG.....???

The Greek mythology name is KerberoV, the transliteration is Kerberos and the Latin Spelling is Cerberus. Finally KJ has nailed the opposition PR as what they are: " The opposition represents 3 Malaysia - In PAS Kelantan it is a Muslim Hudud State, In DAP Penang there's no New Economic Policy (N."EP) and in PKR Selangor it's anything (?sapu) goes"

The 3 headed watchdog guards the gates of Hades: the keeper of the underworld- the realm of ghosts. So how can the Rakyat be duped to place all their faith and trust in them. Yes BN is not perfect, in fact after 53 years of Independence (Merdeka) and 47 years of Malaysia formation there is still alot of room for improvement for Barisan Nasional.

Najib has started with PEOPLE FIRST and now he is PARTY FIRST to brace for GE13.

MCA has Dr Chua Soi Lek as President and he is full time at work to consoldate party unity for GE 13. His vocality is MCA and MCA is taking to the new media and voters registration seriously with a target of 50,000 new voters to be registered and we are moving there. The economic cake must be enlarged for all and not one of a shrinking cake to be enjoyed by some only. What is enshrined in the Federal Constitution shall be upheld.

MIC will have a new President soon. Thus the spirit of Alliance lives on and now with Barisan Nasional considering admission of direct membership by a ?simple majority will sure bring about bigger grassroots support.

Going back to the Cerebrus it has its weaknesses:

1) It can be tamed and put to slumber by music from Orpheus by playing his lyre. No wonder PAS Youth in KL & Selangor keep on demonstrating against pop shows. Big thumbs thumb for them who do not realise in cyberworld everyone has access. So why bother!!!

2) Hercules in one of his twelve labors, fought and subdued Cerebrus and dragged the latter away.

Thus BN with all the component parties must use this UNITED STRENGTH from all the component parties and do this Herculain labour to overcome the Opposition who are only good when in opposition of NO ACTION TALK ONLY (NATO) and even when in power in 5 states after 308 is still NATO.

The Rakyat wants to see BN changing for the people. Walk The Talk in all areas and fully implement 1Malaysia from all angles. A thriving economy and a bigger cake for all, good governance and be transparent, create more job opportunities for all, monitor and promote a fair stake of promotions and scholarships on merits for all. The list still goes on etc

It is not an impossible challenge. BN shall and BN must. The first step is now the Galas and Batu Sapi By Elections.

IT'S ALIVE........!!!

My patient, Mr Lim was telling me his experience how tales of wild animals can help to save lives. It all started when he was a little boy when he first encountered a leopard in BukitTinggi. He was sitting in his father's car when the high beam shone on a full grown spotted leopard crossing a road . They both froze in the car while waiting for the animal to dash for the jungle nearby.

Fifteen years ago, it was nightfall as his friend from Titi was driving up the hilly and winding road to Genting Peres. Suddenly a big stripped animal dashed in front of his car. It was too late to brake and the car khnocked the animal head-on. Having recovered his composture, he looked at the 'victim' and it came to his senses that it was a tiger. It appeared not to be moving and appeared dead. Out of curosity he got out of his car and approach the dead tiger. He looked down at the tiger when suddenly the 'dead' tiger got up and reared its paws at the man who was so shocked that he was rooted to the ground. As the car high beam lights were on, instead of attacking the man, the tiger quickly slipped away to the nearby bushes. The man quickly got back in his car and drove home to Titi. However he never recovered from his shocking and frightening enconter with the tiger that he died 3 days later. He was 54 years old.

Coming back to Mr Lim's encounter two years ago he was driving with his friends to Kuala Musang using the old balak road. They witnessed a black panther kocked down by a passing lorry. The lorry driver just drove on and did not stop. Mr Lim applied his car brakes and from the distance they could see the black panther was lying slumped on the road curb. His excited friends wanted to open the doors of the car and collect the dead animal. Mr Lim is by no means a faint hearted man and he had also been an ex-soldier and had even put up a fight when confronted with a knive welding robber and disarmed the latter.

Mr Lim immediate response was to bark out and order to his friends" Do not get out of the car! The black panther may be still alive!!! " He drove away quickly from the accident scene to live and tell me the tale.

The moral of the story is: until it is affirmed to be dead, do not assume so! BN after 308 general elections appeared to be going down however it is not dead! It is very much alive with transformation and changes. Budget 2011 and 1Malaysia will walk on hand in hand to ensure that BN is strategically placed in the hearts of the Rakyat.

BN is ALIVE!!!!!

The Nine Divine Nights..... NAVARATRI

Last night as I stepped out of my clinic, I was quite surprised to see an Indian lady peeling flower petals while seated. In front of her , standing behind pails of flowers and a big rounded tub of water with petals floating merrily was Brother Ravi of the Sri Sathya Sai SS3 Centre.
I asked him about the big crowd of Sai Baba devotees who were already seated at their prayer hall at the ground floor and about the pails of flower petals.
"We are celebrating NAVARATRI and the flower petals to wash the feet to of devotees mothers and get their blessings" " Nava means Nine, Ratri denotes Nights" " We observe the festival starting on 8 October and ending on 16 October"
Last night I did not have much sleep as I could not under all the religious statements in the Internet, so here I am from morning till lunch time, while seeing patients and in between downloading the revelant bits for my better understanding so I can share with you all.
Navaratri is a festival to commemorate the victory of good over evil. It is one of the greatest Hindu festival and is also known as Durga Puja. God ( Lord Shiva) is adored as Mother.
Durga, the Mother Goddess(Kali), is worshipped on the first 3 days in order to destroy all our impurities, vices and defects.
Lakshimi is worshipped the next 3 days as she is the goddess of wealth and have the power of bestowing on all her devotees inexhaustible wealth.
Saraswati, the Goddess of Wisdom is worshipped the final 3 days.
In order to have all-round success believers seek the blessing of all three aspects of the divine feminity, hence the nights of worship. The 3 Goddess are also worshipped as 3 three manifestations of Shakti, or cosmic energy.
Wow I am near enlightment of Navaratri.
Looking on is Budget 2011, a budget for the Rakyat. For the first time lots of goodies in form of allowances, loans and incentivies are channeled to the civil servants. While the private sectors are encouraged to lead in making the country into a high income nation by 2020.
Tonight is the last night of Navaratri and tommorrow is the end of the festival. BN with this new budget must execute the implementations effectively by following the blessings of Durga, Lakshimi and Saraswati. Like in Star Wars, " MAY THE FORCE ( SHAKTI ) BE WITH YOU" God Bless!

YOU TAUGHT ME.........

What a pleasant and genuine surprise!!!

Having sat down at table 8, Jennifer ( my other half) and I started to shake hands with the rest of the guests and we exchanged our calling cards.

The couple sitting opposite us at 11 0'clock were all smiles. The bespectacled gentleman proudly declared: " You were our lecturer during our first year in Med School, Univeristy Malaya !!!"

" You taught us Anatomy in 1976" he continued while his female companion chipped in with a grin from ear to ear," We never forgot!"

I felt pretty embarassed as I dug deep into my cerebral cortex and grey matter but could NOT RELATE who my students were.

As a temporary lecturer in Anatomy, it was our responsibility to not only give lectures but also tutorials and more importantly as demonstrators during dissection of cadavers (a preserved dead person for detail section and study).

To ensure that the students understand the dissections, they would be given a dissection manual where upon they had to read up the day before and as tutors we would quiz them on what they had read. The students would then break into groups of six and head to the dissection table where they would be seated on either side of the cadaver and proceed with one of the group reading the dissection procedure while the other would dissect with a tooth forceps and a scapel blade. The remaining person would help to identify what had been dissected. I would only intervene when there was a hitch as the students could not find the vein, artery or nerve or organ.

The most complicated dissection was the head and neck. There were so many foramina ( a small hole or opening in the bone where a nerve passes. The abdomen was the easiest as the organs dissected are large and easy for identification. The upper and lower extremities next, then the chest cavity (thorax) and the pelvis.

To make Anatomy easy to remember, the students would learn to use acronyms to identify and remember easily anatomical landmarks eg VAN = Vein-Artery-Nerve for operations of the ribs. Medical mnemonics ( formulas or art of remembering in a rhyme-like manner) had also a field day eg Buttock quadrant safest for needle insertion : " Shut up and butt out" < The Upper Outer quadrant of the Buttock safely avoids hitting sciatic nerve>.

Prof Pallie was the head of Department of Anatomy and he was a very good lecturer. He made the study of Anatomy lively and fun. While lecturing on the disection of the Pelvis and its organs, he sternly remarked " All warm blooded mammals have their testes located outside their bodies i.e. the scrotum. " " How is it that a hugh mammal like the Whale has its testes located in their abdomen?" We just looked at each other but could not come out with an answer. Prof Pallie smiled and nonchalantly provided the answer," Because there are SHARKS around!!!" Then only did we realised that it was meant as a JOKE AND WHAT A JOKE!

Sometimes it was just common sense that provide answers. During an anatomy viva ( live discussion) Prof Pallie threw a complicated question that required both knowledge of anatomy and physiology to give a reply, " What is the group of muscles that is used by males to squeeze out the last drop of urine during micturition ( the act of passing urine)?" Again we were at a loss and our understanding was a NONPLUS. Prof Pallie was expressionless when he delivered the answer " THE LUMBRICALS!" OMG , SO SIMPLE - WE FORGOT THAT THE MALE GENDER USE THEIR FINGERS (LUMBRICAL MUSCLES) TO FLICK OFF THE LAST DROP OF URINE

Back to the dinner, " My name is Robert Jalleh". I looked at his card "CONSULTANT SURGEON" His female companion is his wife " Dr Lee Moon Keen - CONSULTANT NEUROLOGIST" Just then my memory paths syn and I recognised their smiling faces. I had over the years had even referred cases to them for further management without realising that my STUDENTS had made good and each a speciality of their own. I am so proud of them!

What a small world! At the dining table , happy days are here again. If only politicians can sit down and talk seriously: Malaya under the Japanese WWII, Merdeka 1957, Malaysia 1963, Confrontation, End of Emergency years, Wawasan 2020, 1 Malaysia and beyond.

Who knows walking the talk on NEM and Economic Transformation Plans and the move to make Malaysia a High Income Nation, someone among the crowd, may come forward and say: " You taught me......"

So proud... and so "shiok"...!!!!!

WANNA TAKE A BET

The yarn is not the da ma cai betting shop nor is about the Restoran Jun Yuan noted for it's Hainan Chinese Rice.

Just look at the Jalan sehala sign, it is going to fall to the ground at any time.

With its sharp adges, punters will be the first group of 'victims' who are going to be injured on their heads as they rush to place a bet on their favourite numbers.

The second group of likely hungary 'victims' who are patrons of the various restaurants along this road be it for breakfast or lunch or dinner. 1 Malaysia cusine along the whole row.

The third group of 'victims' are those who had parked their cars at the parking lots and they rush to top up their parking tickets each time the enforcement officer sound their horns to alert them that summons will be issued to offenders.

The fourth group of 'victims' are the cleaners or sweepers employed by the sub contractors of Alam Flora.

Anyway, the best BET is that it is the first group of victims who will be the most likely people to knock their heads accidently against the sharp edges of the leaning sign board as they frequent this locality 4 times a week especially there are 3 betting shops along Jalan SS3/31,PJ.

The leaning signboard has been there for four months and MBPJ has not corrected it as yet. WHAT A SHAME!

A LONG TIME AGO.......

A long time ago... about a decade, 1990 we decided to climb G. Murud the highest mountain in Sarawak.

In 1989 the 5 of us, Jennifer (my other half), Chee Ming (eldest), Pik Li ( 2nd eldest) and Pik Yuet (the youngest) stood tall at the highest peak of SE Asia: g. kinabalu. Pik Yuet set a record of sorts as she was only four and a half years ago.

Now at five years old in 1990, Pik Yuet had no other choice but part of the Climbing family: the family who climb together, stays together.

She made it to the summit. No sweat and that was how ABM ( Association of Backpackers) took the challenge. Later on in 1991 our family climbed all the highest mountains above 7000ft on the Banjaran Titiwangsa. In 10 months the whole adventure was completed. At six and half Pik Yuet made us and ABM proud to have climbed G. Tahun, the highest in Peninsular Malaysia- a total distance (to & fro) of 110km.

Today (2010) Pik Yuet is doing her final year Medicine in Khurst State Medical University, Russia, graduating June 2011. Pik Li is a Medical Officer specialising in Radiology at Sungei Buloh Hospital. Chee Ming is practising as an Intensivist in London ( once a week) and the remaining days of the week as a consultant of an animation graphics company. Jennifer since has retired as a secondary school principal. Me, the author of this Blog, besides Tweet, Facebook, Email has migrated to the new media to interact with the public. I am still a pracising medical doctor.

Yes , it appeared a long time ago when we climbed and we are still climbing in cyberspace today!
